Somec Monocoque
Frames technology
Somec monocoque frames are made by starting with the highest quality moulds and carbon fiber. Each frame is then constructed using innovative systems, the EPS system (Expanded Polystyrene System), the Dual System Molding and the Monolith technology. These processes are labor-intensive but required to satisfy Somec’s demand for perfection.
A core of foam starts the EPS process, around which are wrapped layers of carbon, the emerging frame then sealed a special nylon “sack”. These initial processes insure the highest frame compression and uniformity when high pressures are applied.
The Dual Mold System allows Somec to double the amount of carbon fiber in critical areas of the frame and to then extract all remaining gases in the fiber material.
The Monolith technology allows to make a frame in a single structure, without lugs and bonding points.
